Stoicism Workshop

Mental Resilience: Stoic Techniques for Stress, Pressure, and Uncertainty

A workshop on mental resilience, calm decision-making, and personal integrity based on the principles of Stoic philosophy.

I help teams, individuals, and organizations manage stress, make better decisions, and stay calm in challenging situations. Workshops in-person or online, in Slovak and English.

Stress, pressure, and conflict are a natural part of every high-performing team — whether in business, the non-profit sector, or sports.

People today face:

  • chronic stress and a feeling of being overwhelmed
  • uncertainty and constant, often unpredictable change
  • conflicts, misunderstandings, and tension in relationships
  • difficult decisions without clear answers
  • loss of motivation, energy, and inner stability

This is not a new problem. The same challenges — just in a different era — were faced 2,000 years ago by Stoic philosophers like Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus, and Seneca.

Their approach was surprisingly practical: they didn’t teach how to eliminate stress, but how to handle it. They didn’t offer simple answers, but mental models that work today — in business, in teams, and under performance pressure.

That’s why Stoicism is coming back — not as a philosophy to read, but as a tool for functioning in reality.

Why Stoicism today?

The principles of Stoicism shaped some of the most influential people in history. Marcus Aurelius — Roman emperor and author of Meditations — led one of the most powerful empires in the world thanks to them. Today these principles find their place in coaching, sports psychology, and modern management. Not because they are „old“, but because they are timeless.

Stoicism teaches how to stay calm in chaos. How to distinguish what you can influence — and what you cannot. How to make the right decisions even under pressure. Stoic principles are a practical system for meaning, performance, resilience, and inner stability — in sports, in teams, and in life.

Stoic Philosophy as a Tool for Mental Resilience

Stoicism is not just theory.

It is a practical system of thinking that helps:

  • stay calm in chaos
  • focus on what is within your control
  • make sound decisions
  • build strong character and integrity

I translate these principles into practical tools for teams, individuals, and entire organizations.

Who leads the workshop

Michal Kmet

Michal Kmeť

I have been dedicated to Stoicism for more than 15 years — not as an academic subject, but as a living system of thinking that I use daily. Stoic principles helped me handle difficult life situations, and that’s exactly why I share them with conviction.

I am a programmer, mentor, coordinator of the civic association Klub Detskej Nádeje and author of the project Malý robotik — veľká budúcnosť, which brings technology closer to children. I also wrote the online guide Stoický týždeň, which helps people discover practical Stoic principles.

I was nominated for the Volunteer of the Year in Slovakia award, where I placed among the top three in the volunteer coordinator category. I am also listed on the social innovators map of the Nadácia Pontis foundation.
